Fashionpedia: Leather and Exotic Skins

Designers use many types of fabrics and materials in their designs but do you know where they really come from? Here are some animals from which handbags, coats, jackets, and shoes are made.

Leather is usually taken from cows, sheep, pigs and kangaroos; whereas exotic leather is taken from crocodiles, snakes, lizards and ostriches. Exotic leather (especially ostrich) is very expensive compared to other types of leather.
